Cinnamon Bun is a Candy Person in Adventure Time. Prior to the events of "The Red Throne," Cinnamon Bun was very dim-witted and clumsy, even when compared to most residents in the Candy Kingdom. However, after being "baked" in the same episode, he becomes more intelligent and articulate in his manner of speech. He is currently Flame Princess' champion and knight and resides with her in the Fire Kingdom.

Appearance[]

Cinnamon Bun has has small black, eyes, but they appeared large and green in "Slumber Party Panic" and "The Enchiridion!" His mouth is misshapen and full of crooked teeth. Before "The Red Throne," Cinnamon Bun had a wrinkly texture that gave him a slightly elderly appearance. After being blasted by fire, he becomes fully baked and attains a dry, smooth face.

Cinnamon Bun, like most Candy People, doesn't wear any clothes. However, in "The Creeps," he puts on an emerald green suit, bow tie, top hat, a pink- and magenta-striped shirt, a large black moustache, and a monocle. He also has a note from the party's host taped to his back. Cinnamon Bun also wears a blue sweater, a scarf, and gloves while making a brief appearance in "Holly Jolly Secrets Part II." In "Apple Wedding," he wears a sapphire suit, midnight bow tie, and a light blue coloured shirt.

Currently, Cinnamon Bun wears a cone with fire sprouting from the top and has blue skin due to a spell protecting him from the Fire Kingdom's heat. He either carries a staff with a fire on top or a lance. In "Princess Day," with Flame Shield on, he was dressed as a Flame Knight and had fire floating on the top. He also wore a band around his head, holding a fire gem in the middle. He is seen wearing this knight outfit again in "The Cooler." In "Jake The Brick," he is seen wearing a robe.

In "Fionna and Cake," the gender-swapped version of Cinnamon Bun looks almost identical to her male counterpart, the only distinguishing features being her green dress, bow, shoes, and eyelashes.

Abilities[]

While living in the Candy Kingdom, Cinnamon Bun was clumsy in his movements and behavior. However, after being trained by Flame Princess, he demonstrates better coordination and has the strength to render the guards of the Fire Kingdom unconscious with his fists. He is also proficient at mounted combat with a lance as he was able to escape with Flame Princess from Don Jon while fending off waves of Fire People.

In "The Red Throne," it is suggested that Cinnamon Bun has the ability age in a similar way to Princess Bubblegum. It seems that the hotter he is cooked the younger his mind becomes, although his body doesn't differ much from his older, maybe senile, state.

Cinnamon Bun is able to consume food by placing it directly into his stomach as shown in "Five Short Graybles" where he eats Princess Bubblegum's perfect sandwich. His stomach can also burp, which is also shown in "Five Short Graybles," where most of the food drips out as a gooey substance and flecks of it hit Princess Bubblegum's face when he burps.

Personality and traits[]

Before his change, Cinnamon Bun is shown to be dim-witted and somewhat childish in his behavior. He has a short attention span and has difficulty concentrating on even simple tasks. He is often oblivious to situations around him regardless of their importance or severity. Cinnamon Bun often plainly speaks about what is on his mind, giving him the impression of an honest individual and later in the series he got smarter after being completely baked after getting hit with a fireball.

Relationships[]

Princess Bubblegum[]

Before moving to the Fire Kingdom, Cinnamon Bun was tended to and cared for by Princess Bubblegum. She was somewhat of a motherly figure to him. Although she is quick to scold him for his mistakes, she encourages Cinnamon Bun to "grow-up" and mature. Like a child, Cinnamon Bun often resists Princess Bubblegum's such as when he obtains a night-light despite her taking it away from him.

Despite all of this, Princess Bubblegum often uses Cinnamon Bun as a servant to perform simple tasks for her. She also uses him for her scientific endeavors, such as in "Goliad," where she uses him as a component to create her successor. This is likely one of the reasons why Cinnamon Bun believes she is "devious" and "evil."

Flame Princess[]

As of "The Red Throne," Cinnamon Bun is the Flame Princess' champion and knight. When they first meet in "Earth & Water," he considers her a friend after she heals his leg with heat from her fire. Flame Princess comes to respect Cinnamon Bun's honesty and begins to ask him for advice. Eventually, the two successfully stage a coup in her kingdom and overthrow the Fire King. Cinnamon Bun moves into the Fire Kingdom and lived with her as one of her guards.

In "The Red Throne," Cinnamon Bun seems to act as Flame Princess' closest friend and adviser. Cinnamon Bun also shows that he cares greatly about her physical and emotional well being. He is also very protective of Flame Princess and this is shown when he prevents Finn from making any advances to her after she states that she is not interested in rekindling their relationship. At the end of the episode, he reveals that he loves her because she has a strong heart. He states that he has grown watching her example and swears his loyalty to her. It was confirmed that he and Flame Princess are not dating by Cartoon Network's official Twitter page and by the writers.[1]

Finn[]

Cinnamon Bun considers Finn a friend and occasionally spends time with him and Jake. He sees Finn as a capable warrior and compliments him for being able to focus his energy on his tasks. However, in "The Red Throne," he seems bothered by Finn's attempts to get closer to Flame Princess. In "Bun Bun," they appear to be on better terms, with Finn showing Cinnamon Bun respect.

Jake[]

As with Finn, Cinnamon Bun and Jake are on good terms. Despite Cinnamon Bun's belief that Jake "cannot focus on anything", he respects Jake and even names his "dog" after him. Jake often provides Cinnamon Bun a girlfriend by shape-shifting into a bun and putting on a pink bow.

Lumpy Space Princess[]

Although they rarely are shown to interact with one another, in "The Creeps," Cinnamon Bun suggests that he may have a crush on Lumpy Space Princess as he says, "Now's my chance" after finding out that she had recently broken up with Brad.

Peppermint Butler[]

Cinnamon Bun seems to be on good terms with Peppermint Butler. However, in "The Suitor," Peppermint Butler seems perfectly willing to use him as a conduit for summoning demons, in this case, Ogdoad.

Trivia[]

  • Cinnamon Bun is immune to sleep gas.
  • Cinnamon Bun lacks following directions as observed in "Hug Wolf," "Earth & Water," and "Apple Wedding."
