” | —Ed's obsession of chickens |
Ed is one of the the three titular main protagonists of the series Ed, Edd n Eddy.
He is Edd and Eddy's best friend.
He the older brother of Sarah, a member of The Eds (which also consists of his best friends Double D and Eddy). He is, without a doubt, the strongest of the three Eds and the dumbest, and rivals up there with Rolf for strongest on the show itself, having lifted homes and cars with little to no effort. In a nutshell, though, he can be described as kind-natured and absentminded, barely paying attention to current situations enough to truly learn from them. Yet despite his lack of focus on the day-to-day, he is fully focused on his movies and comic books, and commonly misinterprets them as reality. Even worse, though, than his inability to differentiate reality and fiction, is his hygiene, which to say the least is filthy. His low hygiene does provide humor though, even if a bathtub of gravy is disturbing. He loves chickens and other animals from Rolf's house.
He is voiced by Matt Hill, who also voiced Soarin, Kom, Tenderheart Bear, Arrow, and Booma. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Masakazu Suzuki.
Appearance[]
Ed is a tall 12-year-old boy with yellow skin. He has ginger hair styled as a buzzcut, making it look black and a unibrow.
Ed's attire consists of a red and white stripped t-shirt underneath a green jacket. He also wears light purple trousers and black shoes. Ed's attire remains the same during autumn and winter though he will zip up his jacket.
Personality[]
Ed is the strong, airheaded, dimwitted, and considerate of the three. Likewise, he is kindhearted, good-natured, and has a positive attitude towards almost everything and everyone, even to those who are not accommodating to him. He cares about the welfare of the other two Eds, But sometimes his best friends are pestering him even more, due to his bad and horrible mood. He often sacrifices himself for his two best friends, the other cul-de-sac children, and even Sarah, for whom he cares deeply, though she treats him badly. He is absent-minded and naive, making him the perfect candidate to help Eddy with his scams, as Ed hardly ever questions them. Even so, Ed never feels abused by Eddy.
Ed enjoys buttered toast, gravy, cereal (namely Chunky Puffs), pudding skin, chickens, comics, horror and monster movies. Much to the dismay of mysophobic Edd, he has poor personal hygiene, even to the point of being terrified of soap and liking the smell of stink bombs and sweaty boots. Though the Eds were outcasts throughout the series, in the series' TV movie finale Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, the three become friends with all the cul-de-sac children; even Sarah starts treating Ed nicely.
When he has a pebble in his shoe, Ed became upset, rageful and brutal. This was until Johnny removed his shoe so that the pebble come out from his shoe, reverting Ed became into his original self. Whether if this was under Ed's own will or it affected his mental state is up for debate.
