Honeycomb the Hummingbird is a supporting character of Crossover Time. She is a giant bird that served as Maureen's hummingbird steed during her time in Amphibia.
Appearance[]
She is a buff-tailed coronet hummingbird.
Background[]
Honeycomb was a gift from Andrias to Maureen for when he allowed her to finally leave Newtopia after spending most of her life within the city and castle walls, and he had her first trip outside of Newtopia being going to Wartwood with Marcy and her steed Joe Sparrow, who she gets along with despite their species differences. Her name comes from her love of sweet nectar from flowers and sugar water, as well as honey. Honeycomb and Maureen instantly formed a close bond, and Maureen vowed to see all of Amphibia with her new friend
After Maureen's escape to Earth with Anne and the Plantars following Andrias' true colors being revealed as a power hungry tyrant bent on conquering the multiverse with the Core, Honeycomb flies to Wartwood with Sasha and Grime riding on Joe Sparrow, and she spends the rest of her days there waiting for her mistress to return while preparing for battle against her mistress's adoptive father. When Maureen returns to Amphibia a few months later with Anne and the Plantars, both steed and rider are reunited happily, and she and Maureen fight with the resistance together, and Honeycomb is given her own helmet curtesy of Leopold Loggle.
During the battle, Honeycomb is taken to Earth with Maureen while they're captured by the Core, and they fight Andrias' robots in Los Angeles together, and Honeycomb even helps destroy a few robots using her fast flying and sharp pointed beak. She returns to Amphibia with her rider after Andrias is defeated and Marcy is freed from being possessed by the Core, and she is among the other Amphibians who bid Anne, Marcy, and Sasha goodbye after the Core is defeated once and for all thanks to Anne.
After life turns back to normal in Amphibia, Maureen and Honeycomb begin their new life helping those who were affected by Andrias' tyranny and parts of the land damaged by Andrias' machines, while the two also live a comfortable life in Wartwood together. Honeycomb helps Maureen and a redeemed Andrias keep in touch by delivering letters back and forth between them thanks to her fast flying, while also bringing Maureen to Andrias when they get together for some father-daughter bonding during the ex-king's exile. She also continues having a great friendship with Joe Sparrow and even becomes a "godmother" to his and Ol' Bessie the Plantar's snail's offspring.
