The Internet Graveyard is an alternate realm that was created by SMG0 and Niles as a safe haven for dead memes that exists parallel to the "living world of memes” where SMG4 resides, as described by its former ruler/guardian.
It is where Dead Memes, irrelevant YouTubers, and obsolescent trends go after quickly losing popularity and is meant to serve as a safe haven for them to prevent them from becoming corrupted due to being unhappy that nobody cares about them unless they become relevant again. The realm was created by SMG0 and Niles to ensure the balance of the meme life cycle and prevent corrupted memes from ever bringing harm to anyone after Mage was almost brought to ruin by the ancient memes that corrupted years ago.
Following the events of SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2023, the graveyard's status has been left unclear due to SMG3 permanently moving out of the dimension and back into the living world, specifically into The Showgrounds where he now runs his own business: III's Coffee N' Bombs. However, due to it no longer having a ruler, the realm has now fallen back into the hands of the dead memes to look after themselves and has likely reverted back to its chaotic state once again.
History[]
Pre-series[]
Many years before the events of the first episode, SMG0 and Niles together created the Internet Graveyard to cleanse the memes of the Mage universe after they became corrupted, thus beginning what would be come to known as the Meme Life Cycle.
SMG4: Mario Gets【Woke】 and SMG4: The Internet Graveyard[]
Mario sent Axol there by summoning an Oof Button during the events of SMG4: Mario Gets【Woke】. Axol's Inkweaver was broken upon arrival and he spent five years there (even though only three weeks passed in the real world, suggesting that time works differently in the Internet Graveyard), driving him insane because of all of the dead memes that lived in the realm. After Mario and Luigi themselves were sent there by SMG3, an insane Axol started attacking the brothers, forgetting who they were.
After Mario started Naruto running, Axol regained his memories and tells the Mario Bros. how he got trapped in the Internet Graveyard. Mario asked about a way to get back home with Axol mentioning only one way out which was to make a dead meme relevant again. However, it was impossible to do.
Luckily, Mario knows SMG4, who is an expert on memes. However, they cannot call him since there is no phone reception in the Internet Graveyard. The only place with Wi-Fi is Starbucks near the realm's temple. After some time, they arrived at the temple, where they were quickly denied by the lords of the temple (which consists of 5 dead internet memes) for access to Starbucks. Their toilet started acting up however showing Mario what he must do. He fixes it, pleasing the dead memes and granting Mario and his friends access to Starbucks.
Mario, Luigi and Axol get into Starbucks, and thanks to the Wi-Fi signal, Mario was able to call SMG4 on his iPhone for help, thus informing him to revive a dead meme. SMG4, with his meme creating skills and some help from Meggy Spletzer and Bob Bobowski, managed to create a meme involving Harambe, posted it on Twitter, and gained millions of likes allowing the three to escape the Internet Graveyard.
SMG4: Deleted[]
After obtaining the YouTube Remote, SMG3 came up with a plan to erase SMG4 and his gang (except Mario) and send them to the Internet Graveyard, demonstrating how to erase an SMG4 cast member by erasing Frankie. He ended up succeeding, partially because Fishy Boopkins and Saiko accidentally altered their debut videos, and they ended up being sent to the Internet Graveyard.
SMG4: A Totally Normal S̷͍͖͉̙͚͎̑̃̿͑̆̇̚͠M̸͇͇̦̮̌̿Ğ̴̫̗̖͎͔̳4̶̞͇̰̎̀́̚ Episode[]
After the events of SMG4: Deleted, the SMG4 cast and Susan Wojcicki were sent into the realm, where Mario rescued them. With SMG3's cellphone that Mario pickpocketed, SMG4 would use his phone to escape the graveyard.
Presumably, Frankie was sent to the Internet Graveyard but escaped as well.
SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2020[]
SMG3 was banished to the Internet Graveyard by Susan and the YouTube Remote to feel what it is like to live in this horrible place, after his defeat by his former teammates and SMG4's gang. In the Internet Graveyard, SMG3 starts a new podcast with Ugandan Knuckles as his guest, only to be attacked by the dead meme.
SMG4 Christmas Special 2020[]
SMG3 reads a story of the events of the video to two Ugandan Knuckles, only to be attacked by the dead memes.
SMG4: Perfectly Balanced.[]
Mario and SMG4 came to the Internet Graveyard to find answer for the corrupted Meme and find SMG3 for answers about the corrupted memes. It turns out the Meme Gods did a bad job of taking care of the memes, hence why the Internet Graveyard was a jungle in the previous episodes it has appeared in. As of this episode, SMG3 became the ruler of the Internet Graveyard and swiftly modernized in the months (or in the graveyard's case, decades) after he was banished there, though later episodes would point out that SMG3 was originally intended to go to the internet graveyard in the first place.
SMG4: SMG4's Origins[]
SMG4 calls SMG3 to try and get answers about his childhood but it turns out SMG3 can't remember either. SMG3 asks some of the dead memes in the retirement home about where him and SMG4 came from, and they show their backstories.
SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special[]
SMG4 calls SMG3 to bring over all the dead memes over to the Mushroom Kingdom but after the party, SMG3 was locked out by Eldritch Zero's severed arm causing the Dead Memes to corrupt due to being in the living realm for too long. After SMG4, X and FM cleansed the Dead Memes, SMG3 sent them back to the Internet Graveyard as he returned home.
SMG4: If Mario Was In... Anime[]
Mario landed in the Internet Graveyard where he finds Axol's missing piece of the Inkweaver at the Starbucks, being used as a doorstop by SMG3 who spots him trying to take it and fires a rocket launcher at him, only for Mario to escape through a portal.
SMG4: Mario and The Backrooms[]
During a flashback, SMG3 was seen in the Starbucks located inside the Internet Graveyard going to take a piss before Niles transported him from the Internet Graveyard to The Backrooms through the toilet.
SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2021[]
After the destruction of Eldritch SMG0 by the hand of Melony and the departure of SMG1 and SMG2, SMG3 heads back to the Internet Graveyard as he postulates that the Dead Memes must miss their leader, when in actuality they are celebrating his absence at Internet Graveyard Starbucks.
SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS[]
During the film, SMG0 explains how he and Niles created the Internet Graveyard many years ago. It is again seen at the flashback of the film's climax where SMG3 holds a memorial in honor of Terrance, who sacrificed himself to save his boss and the others from the God Box's destruction.
SMG4: Video Ends When Everyone Stops Watching[]
SMG3 decides to do an endless live stream here and ends up bombing the Graveyard after Mario and SMG4 prank him.
SMG4: Our New Home[]
It is briefly shown to SMG4 by Fishy Boopkins as one of the potential places to build the new castle, but upon the realization that he would be living with an absurd amount of Ugandan Knuckles due to SMG3's affinity for them, SMG4 proceeded to enter "spectator mode" and left through the ceiling.
SMG4: Trust No One[]
Following the theft of his diary during one of his livestreams, SMG3 immediately (and correctly) suspected Mario to be the culprit. After rigging the starbucks with "extra security", he left for the Showgrounds to interrogate him but after putting him off as a suspect for the time being, he turned his suspicions onto SMG4 after Mario reminded him of his counterpart's interest in the notebook. However, after learning that he could look through the backup footage of his stream to find any clues, SMG3 headed back to the graveyard with SMG4 and Mario in tow where they learned that his initial suspicion of Mario was correct and were unable to stop Mario from getting away with the notebook upon retrieving it from its hiding place and offers it to his "king".
Following this, the Internet Graveyard is no longer shown due to SMG3 permanently leaving following the conclusion of WOTFI 2023, where he decides to build a new home/business within the Showgrounds in the form of a bomb-styled cafe as a "reward" for the fans getting the good ending where he and SMG4 succeeded in retrieving the notebook from Mario and Marty. It's unknown what happened to the Internet Graveyard following the abandonment of its guardian, but it can be assumed that the graveyard will once again revert to its primitive state without an SMG around to keep order and the Dead Memes will be left to fend for themselves or Susan Wojcicki would take over as new leader since she was banished from the events of SMG4: We Don't Talk About What Happened in the Elevator.
Known residents and visitors[]
- SMG3 Former ruler; left to live in the Showgrounds - Banished by Susan Wojcicki for his abusive use of the YouTube Remote and for sending her and SMG4's Gang to the Graveyard, following his defeat by SMG4's Gang and his former crew. He is currently the ruler of this place. In SMG4: SMG4's Origins, it is revealed that SMG3 was supposed to come here in his Guardian Pod but due to Eldritch Zero's beam, he came to the Mushroom Kingdom instead. This would mean that the Internet Graveyard was his home place. He currently lives inside the Starbucks. Although he has since moved into his cafe in The Showgrounds.
- Susan Wojcicki Former CEO of YouTube – Erased when SMG3 kicked her out of the window. Left the Graveyard after SMG4 used SMG3’s Phone. Mario later sent her back again in SMG4: We Don't Talk About What Happened in the Elevator.
- PewDiePie – Banished by Susan Wojcicki for attempting to say the N-Word in "Mario vs YouTubers".
- Frankie – Erased by SMG3 as a test subject before the SMG4 gang were deleted. He escaped the Graveyard in "Stupid Mario 3D All-Stars" possibly after SMG4 used SMG3's phone which he somehow re-upload Frankie's debut video.
- SMG0 † Creator - After receiving his new partner, Niles, from the God Box, he led him back to his universe where together with Fred, the three of them created this realm in order to start the meme life cycle to prevent the corruption of memes.
- Niles † Creator - Having been created by the God Box at the request of SMG0, the latter took him back home with him and Niles demonstrated his power by helping SMG0 and Fred create a place where dead memes could be cleansed, which they dubbed the Internet Graveyard.
- Lakitu - It was summoned by SMG3 after he begun his endless live stream on Twitch.

Trivia[]
- The members of the Ancient Protectors of the Internet Graveyard realm are composed of five dead popular memes being:
- Peanut Butter Jelly Time Banana
- Dr. Robotnik Head
- Trollface
- Shoop Da Whoop (deceased, as of SMG4: Perfectly Balanced.)
- Awesome Face
- Many notable memes which eventually became out of relevance ended up in the Graveyard after being losing popularity.
- Ugandan Knuckles
- Leroy Jenkins
- Crash Bandicoot
- Harambe
- Big Chungus
- There are also YouTubers who were previously very popular, but have since fallen into irrelevancy with the YouTube audience.
- Fred
- Annoying Orange
- Ray William Johnson
- FPSRussia
- Fidget spinners appeared in the Internet Graveyard as it was a trending toy in 2017.
- The Internet Graveyard is somewhat uncannily similar to The Amazing World of Gumball's The Void, where it is a secret dimension where many of the world's un-intentional "mistakes" were erased from existence and sent to this dimension.
- The Internet Graveyard is might be based on the Wasteland from Epic Mickey, a world created by Yen Sid. Said world has cartoon characters that are retired, rejected or forgotten, with its locations being based on various retired or rejected theme park rides of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
- It's currently unknown why SMG3 didn't go insane in the Internet Graveyard, but Axol did. However, SMG3 was able to help the dead memes, whereas Axol lost his Inkweaver, which may have had something to do with it.
- It was later revealed in SMG4: SMG4's Origins that SMG3 was supposed to land in the Graveyard which explains why he didn't go insane if he was supposed to be born there in the first place.
- Living characters that are erased from existence via time paradox were not actually deceased in the SMG4 universe, instead being classed as alive as they are never sent to the afterlife such as Heaven or Hell.
- As seen in SMG4: If Mario Was In... Anime, the Internet Graveyard seems to be more easily accessed and escapable. Mario was able to come to the Graveyard through a portal on his own and a new portal appeared right when he decided to escape.
- This is likely because SMG3's control over the Internet Graveyard made it less restrictive.
- The Graveyard's large Temple and its surrounding area uses the same model from the Mystic Ruins Temple in Sonic Adventure, specifically the one featured in the Tikal Flashback portions of the game.
- The Starbucks Cafe is taken from this dupe.
