- Johnny's attire is based off of Moxy from Cartoon Network's The Moxy Show.
- According to Ian Jones-Quartey, Johnny's real name was Hatayo until he was localized and imported to Lakewood.
- This is a direct reference to the Hayato Kawajiri character in the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. In his debut, Johnny briefly gave out a "yare yare", which is one of Jotaro Kujo's many catchphrases.
