Lord Dominator is the main antagonist of the 2013 Disney television series Wander Over Yonder. She is an evil galactic villainess who was formerly the most notorious villain in the galaxy at the top of the Galactic Villain Leaderboard and the arch-nemesis of Wander, Sylvia, Commander Peepers, and Lord Hater.

She was voiced by Noël Wells in her true form. When fully armored, she is voiced by Fred Tatasciore who also voiced Torr in Mortal Kombat X, Annabelle the Doll in the Conjuring series, and Solomon Grundy in Batman: Arkham City and in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Appearance[]

Lord Dominator is a tall and humanoid pale-green skinned alien with white hair that has been shaved into a lengthy mohawk, bright pink eyes (sclera), red and pink freckles/spots, pointy ears, thick black eyeliner that is drawn to resemble running teardrops, and black lipstick.

Whenever Dominator is going into battle, her helmet's retractable, skull-like mask covers her face and her power suit transforms into a giant, brawny suit of mech armor that covers her from head-to-toe like a cloak. Her voice becomes deep and masculine when she dons her mask, and she towers over most other characters when fully armored.

Dominator's power suit takes the form of a black crop top with spiked shoulder pads, a floor-length black skirt with thigh-high slits on each side, and yellow gloves just like Lord Hater's. She also wears a black helmet topped with giant serrated yellow horns, socks similar to Wander's and shoes similar to Lord Hater's. Dominator's insignia, a dripping red heart that looks like it was painted in blood, adorns the front of her crop top. (Although it is less noticeable, it can also be seen on her fully-armored form.)

Personality[]

Commander Peepers: Sir, She's cold and heartless! I really don't think she

—Commander Peepers warning Lord Hater about Lord Dominator's in-general behavior.

In Dominator's giant mech armor, she is an imposing silent force who drains planets dry in order to use their resources, namely Volcanium X, to power her fleet and power suit. However, under the mask, she is an overly-enthusiastic woman who absolutely geeks out over wreaking chaos and destruction. Dominator is just as hyperactive as Wander is, if not even more so, and frequently screams, laughs, and bounces around in excitement over her own evildoing. Despite her bubbly personality when she is unarmoured, Dominator is a violent, heartless, and sadistic killer through and through. Rather than conquer the entire galaxy, she wishes to destroy it for her own amusement. She is far more evil, wrathful, sadistic, and vindictive than Lord Hater is, though rather than commit villainous acts out of hatred, she does so out of a twisted love for destruction and making others suffer and die. She possesses a vast ego that borders on being a god complex, never feeling a shred of regret or remorse for the numerous atrocities that she has committed. In fact, Lord Dominator takes great pleasure in watching people suffer at her hands.

Dominator occasionally refers to herself in the third person (possibly to emphasize her own sense of self-importance) and displays a twisted sense of humor, as well as a "business before pleasure" attitude. This is largely because her "business" is her pleasure, and activities outside of causing mayhem and destruction are not as enjoyable to her. She is driven purely by her passion for destruction and has no problem with destroying anyone who might hinder her plans. She demands complete loyalty from her minions, but views them as nothing more than pawns, tolerating them only as long as they are useful to her and quickly disposing of them when they are not. Dominator often uses force and manipulation to make characters bend to her will and views those she harms in the wake of her plans as insignificant and not worth letting live. At most, she values the victims of her evildoing by how entertaining they would be to harm.

As hinted at by Wander, the reason why Lord Dominator acts like such a "bully," i.e., ceaselessly torments Wander and his friends, is because she's lonely and frequently craves socialization, albeit in her own cruel and demented way. Although she understands, in a way, that she longs for companionship, she continuously denies it. Equally important to note is the fact that Lord Dominator is not evil because she is lonely; in fact, the exact inverse is true. Her loneliness is not the result of some tragic backstory, but the result of her being so destructive and evil. The reason why Lord Dominator is evil is because she harbors a deep love for reducing things to ruin and causing other people pain and suffering.

Biography[]

Lord Dominator is described to be Lord Hater's nemesis. According to the series' creator Craig McCracken, the villain is not only "more evil than Lord Hater," but also "tougher than Sylvia, more cunning than Commander Peepers, ... and is as excited about doing evil as Wander is about doing good." Therefore, she exists to challenge each of the other main characters and trump them at what they do best. The threat she represents is so dire that all the other villains of the series come to dread her, and the harm she does serves no grander purpose beyond bringing her amusement. Her modus operandi is to pick a galaxy to dominate, single out specific people to stalk, "[figure] out the right way to crush their spirits" (her own words), torment them relentlessly before ultimately killing them, and destroy the galaxy bit by bit by draining planets of Volcanium X to power her technology with.

Season 1[]

In the Season 1 finale "The Rider", Lord Dominator's silhouette is shown during the credits as she makes an evil laugh.

Season 2[]

She made her full appearance in the Season 2 premiere, The Greater Hater. Lord Dominator uses her army of robotic minions to deal with Wander, Sylvia, Lord Hater, and Commander Peepers when they all infiltrate her ship. Wander persistently tries to bestow Lord Dominator with a picnic basket as an act of generosity, but Dominator does not bother paying attention to him, until Wander starts getting fed up and then plays his signature banjo. Only then does Dominator attack him by encasing him in lava. Once Lord Hater finds out about her defeating Wander, he gets furious and attacks her, but Lord Dominator retaliates by stopping Hater in his tracks with her magma gloves and slapping Peepers aside. Wander, Sylvia, Lord Hater, and Peepers all escape the ship and all were shocked over how powerful "he" is, as they did not know who Lord Dominator truly was at the time. Lord Dominator then morphs back into her true form out of excitement after her encounter with the gang and excitedly goes over her favorite parts of it. She believes that she will have "fun" with this galaxy and its "dorks", and she reverts back to her intimidating form, laughing maniacally.

She would then appear again in The Battle Royale. When Wander finds out about her true identity, he is determined to play matchmaker to set Lord Dominator up with Lord Hater, despite the sheer resentment Hater has towards Dominator, because he believes they have enough in common to hit it off and that they'll stop being evil if they do. She finds out about the ring and then assumes her intimidating form to storm the warzone between all the other villains of the show by one-upping them in one single blow in order to get a ring, which all the other villains had thought it was a powerful source for conquering the universe. Lord Hater then battles Lord Dominator for the ring after all the other villains declare Dominator the best villain. Eventually, Hater manages to get the ring for himself by knocking Dominator's helmet off, revealing her true identity to everyone else. However, Hater has developed a new crush after seeing her, in which Lord Dominator takes advantage of this distraction by sending him off the cliff and then taking the ring for herself.

Since then, Lord Hater would then try several attempts to impress Dominator, ranging from an awesome new ride (The New Toy) to a propaganda film (The Cartoon), while Peepers would come up with plans to defeat Dominator, such as using the unstable isotope, Frostonium.

In The Bot, it is established that Lord Dominator needs an important resource (for her ship, bots, and power suit) called "Volcanium X". She is shown to be outright abusive and cruel to her minions if they fail her, as shown with Bot 42. She takes a preference to Bot 13, since it actually did marvelously at locating planets with Volcanium X. Dominator orders him to retrieve that resource. However, Bot 13 forms a newfound friendship with Wander and directly disobeys her by deleting his data. This infuriates Dominator, who then kicks Bot 13 out of her ship, resulting in him disintegrating to his death.

She appears again in The Rival, where she is visited by Emperor Awesome, who attempted to impress her with his muscles instead of a super weapon that he promised her. It turns out that she never saw him as a potential ally, and only agreed to hear him out because she was bored and was hoping that whatever weapon he would present would at least be entertaining. In retaliation for offending her, Lord Dominator steadily encases him in lava by pretending to be impressed with him, and then bluntly lets Awesome down for trying to hit on her, proclaiming that even Lord Hater isn't as delusional as he is. She destroys Awesome's limo at the end of the episode and later imprisons him, as shown in My Fair Hatey.

Her next major role is in My Fair Hatey, where she "invites" Lord Hater to her ship. Wander tags along with Hater to help him impress Dominator through the musical number "You're the Greatest", but it turns out that it was her armor sitting on her throne while the real Dominator was in the shower. Upon returning, it was revealed that the real reason Dominator invited Hater to her ship is that he is the only villain who hasn't surrendered to her and wants him to admit that she is the greatest in the galaxy. It is shown that Dominator had imprisoned all the other villains of the show, including Dr. Screwball Jones, Little Bits, and Emperor Awesome. Dominator then spells it out to both Wander and Hater that she is not interested in their friendship and romantic advances respectively, while singing her Villain Song "I'm the Bad Guy". She finally breaks Hater through this process, as well as makes Wander see how terrible his matchmaking plans were, and then throws both him and Hater into a prison cell. During that time, Sylvia and Commander Peepers attempted to destroy her ship's core with the Frostonium, which leaves Dominator desperate to fix her freezing ship once they successfully do so. Sylvia and Peepers manage to escape her ship along with Wander and Hater when they break out of their prison. Unfortunately, this ends up not only failing to destroy her ship, but also giving Lord Dominator ice powers, and she ends the episode going after them, telling them that the show is over.

She reappears in The Night Out. Dominator is completely bored inside her ship, as she has to wait for it to finish installing updates for her new ice powers, which would take a very long time, much to her dismay. After failing to make her Dominator Bots laugh at her jokes, Dominator decides to leave her ship to spend a night out on the planet below. She puts on civilian clothes and hides her signature eye makeup behind shades to prevent others from recognizing who she is. She would stir up some trouble with the planet's local karaoke bar and it's owner, fighting alongside Sylvia (who she spotted singing when she entered and decided to hang around for) after inciting a brawl, and is surprised at first to have Sylvia as her new friend. Dominator opted to spend the rest of the night having fun on the town with her. Dominator seemed to be very happy having a real friend for possibly the first time in her life, but ends up pushing her friendship away because she loves to cause pain and destruction above all else, and ultimately rejects Sylvia for refusing to follow her every command when she started behaving evilly. Dominator believed it fit to leave Sylvia for dead when fighting a giant pit monster just because the latter refused to go along with everything she wanted. This action cemented the end of their friendship. The episode ends with her back to her normal lifestyle, but equally as bored as before while waiting for updates.

She appears for the last time in the season 2 finale, The End Of The Galaxy, where she celebrates having shattered every planet in the galaxy. However, she quickly falls into a state of intense dissatisfaction, realizing there is nothing left in her favorite galaxy for her to destroy. Unbeknownst to her, Wander, Sylvia and all the other inhabitants of the galaxy have taken refuge on a secret planet while plotting how to destroy her. Wander prefers to find a nonviolent solution, so he boards Dominator's ship to learn her what her "real" reason for being so evil is, thinking that it must be something that can be healed from. Dominator mocks his fruitless attempts at befriending her and has her bots scan him, revealing the location of the secret planet. She immediately prepares to destroy it, but is stopped by Hater who protects it with a force-field. With the encouragement of Sylvia and the other galaxy-dwellers, he pierces Dominator's ship with her own planet-destroying drill. Dominator becomes trapped beneath it, her armor having kept her alive but not without getting damaged beyond functionality in the process. She calls to her bots for help and then screams that she doesn't need them or anybody when they fail to respond. Wander speculates that her tendency to ruthlessly and repeatedly torment them instead of killing them off at any early opportunities stems from a lack of social interaction. Right before the ship explodes, Wander saves both of them, much to Dominator's surprise. Wander then offers Dominator a fruit basket of friendship but she angrily declines, snaps at him, and kicks Wander away, calling him "weird" and calling everyone "a bunch of dorks" for the last time, and then angrily storms off from the Galaxy... and then reappears to take an orange from Wander's fruit basket, pointing out that she's taking it because she's hungry, not because she's Wander's friend. She then leaves the galaxy, vowing revenge against them all.

Trivia[]

  • The galaxy that the show takes place in is not the first galaxy that Lord Dominator's demolished.
  • Similar to Lord Hater for having lightning powers, she has lava powers, but is unique in her ability to shapeshift her gloves into anything, as well as the fact that her powers come from the armor she invented.
  • Dominator, along with Dr. Screwball Jones, Mandrake the Malfeasant, Ryder and most of the competitors in the galaxy, is one of the few characters that Wander has been unable to befriend.
