Mars is the fourth celestial planet from our solar system and the second nearest one from Earth. It first appeared in the Awkward, Octopus episode "Mars Monster!" and then PLWTR episode "Mission to Mars".

It is approximately twenty light minutes (150 million miles) from our sun, and about twelve light minutes from Earth. The average year is about twice a common year on our homeworld, and the average hour is only 39 minutes longer. The Bikini Bottom Space Agency is undergoing a mission to bring H2O to the planet and planning to colonize it, according to Plankton Lives With The Raw. This is very similar to real-life, as US President Barack Obama stated that NASA (the American space program) will land humans to Mars by 2035.

Martians and Earthlings have the same earth, with both of their DNA originating in comets coming from the same area. As such, they are friends, contrary to other cultures merging such as the Native American/European collide and the Fish/Moonian collide.
