Nintendofan997 also known as Xboxfan997, Xboxfan, or just X, is a a classic character in the SMG4 series.
He used to be one of the most common characters, but now only makes minor appearances in SMG4's videos. He once had an evil doppelganger called Nintendofan998, except he's called Xboxfan996 or Nintendofan996 in SMG4's videos, for some reason.
X has hosted almost every War of the Fat Italians episodes almost every year by 2017, since The Waluigi Arc, X would be gradually discontinued from being the host from the following WOTFI episodes by 2019.
Roles[]
Since Season 1, X usually appeared as either a deuteragonist or a tritagonist next to Mario and SMG4. Often X appeared as one of the main protagonists of an episode alongside another character such as SM64 Bloopers: Two Great Friends in which he shares the role with FM. However, by Season 3, his roles started to decrease in favor of other characters with Seaside Stupidity Part 2 being his last major role as a protagonist. But perhaps X’s most notable role is being the host and behind-of-the-scenes organizer of the annual War of the Fat Italians series since he thought of it in the 2011 WOTFI. Since then, X has hosted every WOTFI up until the 2019 event where it was shown that he was fed up with hosting the event, although he didn’t host the 2018 event due to being turned into a zombie during the Waluigi Arc. By Seasons 7 and 8, X only made a small number of cameos in episodes until his next major appearance in Season 9’s War of the Fat Italians. In SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special, X, alongside FM, appeared in his most major role since Season 6, although after the movie, X’s appearances were once again decreased into cameos with his last official appearance being SMG4: If Mario Was The Last Man On Earth.
Personality[]
Ever since Season 1, X has always been portrayed as unamused, pessimistic, and easy to anger but calm, and compassionate compared to others. Whenever there’s a problem between the characters, X always stands still while looking at the scene with unamused eyes. An example of this can be found at the beginning of War of the Fat Italians 2017 and in SMG4: Mario And… The Well. Some moments were even shown where X himself becomes intolerable to others around him. Examples of this can be found in War of the Fat Italians 2016 in which a frustrated X starts to threaten Mario and SMG4 every time they have a minor disagreement. Another example is in a skit from SSENMODNAR DELUXE - 1 MILLION SUB SPECIAL where he tries to buy clothes from the soup store, prompting FM to ask why the hell he is doing that. X at the end flips off FM. There are also times in which X is shown to be so intolerant to others to the point of losing his manners such as in SM64 Bloopers: The Pirate Plumbers where he rudely slams the door on the Mario brothers after they ask if he needs any help. Overall, despite X being one of the more sane characters of the show, he’s not better than the rest of the characters in terms of manners although his temper isn’t as bad as FM’s.
An unamused X in the 2017 War of the Fat Italians
That being said, X has also been seen with a more positive side. Earlier seasons portrayed X as enjoying zombie hunting as he allegedly came from the Year of the Zombie Invasion. Ironically, X was turned into a zombie during the Waluigi Arc. X has also been portrayed as rather friendly at times and being friends with the likes of SMG4, Mario, Ben, and especially FM, who’s his best friend, and later years portrayed the two being always side by side. X has gone as far as letting people stay in his house as housemates like Ben, FM, and Princess Daisy. This is shown in SM64: Two Great Friends, and SM64: The Pirate Plumbers. In the former, X even offered to help FM find a house and a new job for him. In SM64 Bloopers: The Impostor, X offered MM spaghetti. X also gives the impression of being a games-enjoyer in general, which makes sense due to his full name. Examples of this can be found in SM64 Bloopers: Hide and Seek, SM64 Bloopers: The SwitcherooOveralls, in which he plays chess with SMG4, and even the War of the Fat Italians series since he thought of the concept and hosted it various times. WOTFI 2019 hinted that X and Tari may be familiar with each other off-screen due to X knowing how to temper with Tari’s arm. SMG4: Studying for Exams...But you're friends with Mario showed a more humorous side to X when he teamed up with Baldi for the sake of an algebra pun (because his nickname is "X") pretending to be held hostage and then rickrolling her, resulting in Meggy exploding with anger and throwing him, Baldi, and Mario out.
Some episodes showcase X as rather cowardly and intimidated compared to the braver FM. An example is seen in Seaside Stupidity, as he decides that it's every man for themselves after a sea monster ends up causing the cruise ship he was riding on (along with many other passengers) to sink. He later attempts to persuade Admiral S. Swipe to kill Mario instead of him, only for Mario to retaliate by saying that he should kill X instead for being a side character. The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE, SMG4: Mario And... The Well, and SMG4: Mario Battle Royale all see X being more intimidated and frightened than the rest of the cast. Due to X’s power of sensing dark forces that were shown in SM64 Bloopers: SMG3’s plan to destory SMG4 because he felt like it, and SM64 Bloopers: tђє ๓๏ภรtєг, X has also been shown to be pessimistic at times.
Disambiguation[]
There have been two other characters similar to NintendoFan997/X in SMG4 that the audience usually mixes up.
The other character named X[]
X, the villain.
Before NintendoFan997 debuted, an earlier character simply referred to as "X" debuted in SM64 Bloopers: Enter X. This character is a killer supervillain wearing all black and uses mind-control to his advantage and a member of the first iteration of the Anti-Cast. This character has been a villain of several classic episodes with his last appearance being in SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special where it is confirmed that he's a Bloopersville civilian now. The two character are commonly mistaken to be the same characters and it was even a common mistake on the SMG4 Wiki.
Counterpart[]
X has only one counterpart in bloopers: Nintendofan998 (or Xboxfan998), his evil doppelganger, who is called "Xboxfan996" in SMG4's videos possibly as a mistake. Despite being X's main arch-foe, the two never confronted each other on-screen and the only time they were on-screen together was in SM64 Bloopers: A Murder without Peach where they were shown alongside each other as part of a group of friends SMG4 invited to Mario's party. It is possible that the two aren't big rivals unlike the SMGs unless their rivalry took place off-screen.

Power Level[]
Despite X being weaker and less compatible than FM, throughout his appearances since his debut X has shown several powers, abilities, and skills that he used in episodes and events. Additionally, X comes from the Year of the Zombie Invasion which seemingly contributed to his skills that he shows throughout the series.
- Future Sight: X has the unwilling ability to foresee and detect danger, negative forces, and dark omens that will acquire in the near future. When he uses this power, he seems to experience a lot of pain. This ability has been shown in several episodes and was even shown in X's Zombie Invasion saga(for example, in Super Mario 64 Bloopers: SMG3's plan to destory SMG4 cause he felt like it, he managed to sense that SMG3 and his former gang made a black hole outside).
- Energy generating: It's implied in the video SM64 Bloopers: The Crazy Fighters that he also has the power to generate energy and shoot lasers with them.
- Teleportation: In the same video, X was shown to have the power of teleportation.
- Firearm: Due to X coming from a background of zombie hunting, X always carried firearm with him consisting of various gun types.
- Communication: Being the popular host of the War of the Fat Italians events, host has shown to be a good communicator and host. This allowed him to interact with the audience the best and speak clearly.
- Knowledge of Robotics: In WOTFI 2019, X was shown to have easy access to Tari's cyber arm and knowledge on programing it, implying that he has knowledge in robotics and cybernetics.
- Gaming skills: In older videos, X was shown to be a lover of video games and be skillful at them. Although it is unknown to what extent X's gaming skills are.
- Meme-Machine: In connection with FM and SMG4, the trio can make excellent memes and clean up messes.
Character Trivia[]
- X once stated in SM64 Bloopers: Crystal Funhouse, that AustinDawgyDawg and GageDawg are better fighters than FM. However, this is just his opinion, so it may not be canonically true.
- In the episode Cooking with Bowser & Mario 2!, he sells burgers as a merchant.
- In 2014, he only appeared in cameos for a while, but returned as a main character in the video War of the Fat Italians 2014.
- Xboxfan997 acts as the host in the video "War of the Fat Italians 2013", though he refers to himself as "XboxFanGuy".
- It is implied he uses drugs, as in the video War of the Fat Italians 2013 when Mario and SMG4 go to him to find out who wins, he says "The drugs are over there! Don't hurt me!", implying he is a drug-user.
- This is also implied in The Impostor, as SMG4 states he is on crack again when the imposter (X) is chasing him.
- X and SMG4 were the only non-fictional YouTubers to be infected by the T-Pose Shroom.
- Although it should be noted that FM was seen being overrun by T-pose zombies in Fishy Boopkins Plays VRChat, meaning that he was also likely infected.
- X has appeared in every War of the Fat Italians as the main host and judge, except in the 2018 edition, where he is T-Posed and Waluigi takes over the judge role instead, and in the 2020 edition, where he was vaguely absent and the spirit of the YouTube Remote hosted instead.
- While he does not host War of the Fat Italians 2021, he does make a brief, non-speaking appearance in one of the challenges, alongside FM.
- In the Trailer of War Of The Fat Italians 2020 - Official Trailer he seems to be deleted, but these events don't seem to actually take place in The YouTube Arc.
- X had an appearance in every single year except 2023 and 2024 so far.
- Half of his voice clips from "SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special" are mostly Spy's.
- His Tarot Arcana is VI - The Lovers.
- It was unknown if he and the other Mario Recolors were affected by the events of SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2022. Until in the blooper SMG4: This Will Be Mario In 2030, FM54321 made a brief cameo in that blooper, which proves that X and the other Mario Recolors weren't retconned as many thought.
- Alongside FM54321, he retains his original form as SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2025.
- X is one of the two only major original characters in the series to be dark-skinned, the other being Desti.
- While X's character is dark-skinned, Armonzii stated on his Q&A that he thought a dark-skinned character looked neat and diverse; in reality, he's as pale-skinned as Mario.

X's color code looks similar to MarioGame2222's, due to the colors used for the cap, arms, and shirt, and for Green overalls.
