"STOP IT. THIS IS NOT OKIE-DOKIE." War Of The Fat Italians 2022 is a highly controversial blooper among the SMG4 fanbase. Reason: Divisive redesigns for SMG4, SMG3, Fishy Boopkins, and Bob Bobowski and for many people to be disappointed about another WOTFI arc for the 3rd year in a row. |
War Of The Fat Italians 2022 is the 38th episode of Season 12 and the seven hundred and thirty-fifth overall to be uploaded on the Crossover Time & SMG4 channel.
This is the seventh and final episode of The Lawsuit Arc, the fourth WOTFI to not have X be its host due to him being vaguely absent in this arc, the twelfth episode in the War of the Fat Italians series, the fourth WOTFI to be the finale of the arc, and marks the debut of SMG3, Fishy Boopkins and Bob Bobowski's new designs. It was aired on October 15, 2022.
Synopsis[]
The conclusion of the Lawsuit Arc. Also a turning point for Mario, SMG4, Meggy, and friends.
Plot[]
Prologue[]
The episode begins in the Supreme Court of the Mushroom Kingdom, with SMG4 and Meggy facing off against Lawyer Kong as Mario and the rest of the cast watch. Kirby bangs his gavel down, declaring that the trial of SMG4 v. Nintendo shall now begin. To catch everyone up, he explains that Nintendo has filed a DMCA against SMG4 stating that he and all non-Nintendo IP should be banned from the Mushroom Kingdom. On the other hand, the defense has provided a parody contract stating that SMG4 is not infringing on copyright and should be allowed to stay.
Kirby then begins the trial. Meggy begins her case, and decides to use Mario as Exhibit A. She states that Mario is not the Mario from the Super Mario franchise and is merely a parody of the character. Lawyer Kong objects, stating that Mario is Mario and that the channel is using the character without permission, but Meggy objects to this and yells at him not to interrupt her. This escalates into a series of objections which results in Meggy and Lawyer Kong having a catfight in the middle of the court. As Kirby attempts to restore order, Mario watches while munching popcorn and chuckles that he likes court, but SMG4 has had enough and whispers something in Kirby's ear.
Kirby inhales Meggy and Lawyer Kong and spits them back into their seats, ending the fight, and declares that they shall settle the debate with War of the Fat Italians. Meggy and Lawyer Kong object to this as the series has nothing to do with law, but Kirby states that his decision is final. Luigi, Bob and Fishy Boopkins are about to help SMG4 from their seats, but Lawyer Kong declares that as Nintendo IP they must be on his side and uses an IP Contract to mind control all of the Nintendo characters including Mario, Luigi, Bob and Fishy into joining him. SMG4 turns to the other characters and encourages them not to give up, as WOTFI is their best shot of winning the trial. The characters all cheer as Kirby start the trials.
SMG4 VS Mario: Who can grow the biggest mustache?[]

SMG4 stays up late in a lab mixing chemicals to create a serum. He then drinks it, which makes his mustache grow a tad larger. He laughs as he shows it off, but he severely underestimates Mario, who hovers into the air as he proclaims "I'm-a-bet you can't do this!" Everyone screams as Mario's mustache grows to sizes never seen before, and it starts consuming the entire world, with everyone panicking and getting absorbed by it. As Toad and Peach watch from the roof of Peach's Castle, Toad logs out to save themselves, leaving Peach to gasp in shock before the castle gets absorbed. By the time Mario is done, the entire planet is now inside his mustache.
Melony VS Wario: Who can listen to Bob's life story without cringing the longest?[]

Melony and Wario sit down at desks as Bob begins. He faces Wario and whispers that it all started when he got his ovaries, but Wario cannot take it and begins flying around the room while screaming that his heart has stopped before he self-implodes. Bob comments that it is just him and Melony now, and continues blabbing on and on. Several days later, Bob finishes his story and thanks Melony for listening before he leaves the room. However, Melony had really put fake eyes on and slept through the entire challenge, and quickly wakes up shortly after.
SMG4 VS Mario: Who can beat Kirby in a Dream Buffet-styled race?[]

Mario and Kirby are lined up in the garden outside the courthouse, which has been littered with various food. Mario starts singing that he is going to kick Kirby's buttocks, but Kirby menacingly replies, "39 buried, 0 found." The race starts, and both contestants blast off while sucking down massive heaps of foods. Kirby inhales several full dishes while Mario chokes trying to swallow a whole watermelon, but he manages to catch up by throwing a lemon into Kirby's mouth, slowing him down. Kirby gets his own back, however, slamming Mario aside so that he falls off a cliff. When the race ends, Mario and Kirby are both put on scales, now comically fat, but are both tied at 7.4 million pounds. However, Mario eats his cap and moustache, which increases his weight by a billionth of a pound and puts him in first.
Kirby does not appreciate Mario's cheating method, and proceeds to inhale and eat Mario. This sets Mario's score to 0 and Kirby's to 14.80001 pounds. He celebrates before turning to SMG4, who was watching the whole thing. SMG4 immediately knew he had no chance and simply runs away, jumping off the same cliff Kirby knocked Mario into.
Whimpu VS Bowser: Who can build the best ship?[]

Bowser immediately gets to work and manages to build an identical copy of his airship by hammering together random pieces of furniture, a burger, Kamek, a dolphin and Steve. Whimpu is not intimidated by this, however, and comments that it is time to get serious before he whips out a laptop and begins researching various topics. Whimpu concludes that he has an announcement: the best ship is him and Bowser's Mom! This Yo Momma joke is powerful enough to KO Bowser, and Whimpu wins the challenge.
SMG4 VS Mario: Who can respect PPLS opinions on Twitter?[]

Mario and SMG4 are sent to a dark room, and a TV blinks on which starts going through cringe Twitter posts.
"Wearing her panties rn I miss her so much"
Mario and SMG4 barely hold themselves together, with the former commenting that it is very "opinion" while Mario admits that it is okay.
"Feeding time for princess again!! i rlly just love watching her get bigger from my blood \(//V//)\
Once again, the two barely keep themselves together, and the two scream but manage to find compliments, admitting that the pet exists and therefore is alright.

SMG4's whole body literally crumples. Mario can't take it either and snaps his own neck, leaving the result as a tie.

SMG3 VS Luigi: Who can be the least funny?[]

SMG3 and Luigi are placed on stage in front of a crowd. SMG3 is cross that he is here and declares that he will prove he is still funny. He takes out a dead meme, but everyone in the crowd groans over how cringe it is, which hurts his feelings. Luigi, on the other hand, is stalling as he is unable to come up with a joke and is simply mumbling random stuff. This causes the entire crowd to burst out laughing at him. SMG3 wins, but he is clearly upset that nobody finds him funny and storms off-stage to sulk.
Saiko VS Mario: Who can win in a skateboard contest?[]

Saiko goes first, and performs a 180 Indy Grab + Manuel + Ollie + Rail Grind + Spicy Air Time + Zinger Chicken Bucket Relaxo Fantstico Supreme before she rides back up a ramp and onto the starting area, her final score being 554,170. Saiko challenges Mario to do better, and his gladly accepts. Mario gets on his board and slowly rolls down the ramp at a starting speed, but then activates two rocket boosters that he placed on the back of his board to blast off into the atmosphere. As he comes back down, Mario performs a SPEEEEEEEEEN + DERPUS MALURPUS + AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH which causes him to gain one quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000) points. However, Mario does not stick the landing and crashes into the ground with an explosion. Because of this, Mario loses the points gained from his tricks, with the challenge mocking him as it says: "Score: DUMBA**"
SMG4 VS Mario: Who can go the longest without doing a meme?[]

Mario and SMG4 are at a table in a restaurant. SMG4 comments that the challenge is so dumb, and Mario agrees but has to stop himself from saying "I want to die". SMG4 mocks Mario, but he has to stop himself from saying "Get dunked on!" The two now realize that this challenge will be tough, as both of them have done memes together for over a decade, and the two stare down. Mario asks SMG4 what nine plus ten is, and he just manages to restrain himself from saying "twenty-one". He retaliates by asking Mario if he wants some ice cream, and the plumber barely stops himself from saying "only a spoonful". He growls at SMG4 to shut up and jams his fork into his hand, but SMG4 just resists a scream.
However, things get spicy when a Red Crewmate arrives to take their order. Both resist the urge to say a meme, and Mario nearly says "Among Us burger" instead of fungus burger. However, SMG4 slips up by ordering "fries with tomato sus" instead of tomato sauce. Mario laughs at SMG4 for losing as he rolls around crying, and the Crewmate has no idea what is going on.
Meggy VS Mario: Who can finish an entire school term's worth of homework first?[]

Meggy is declared the winner right away, and none of Mario's friends believe he can do it. Determined to prove them wrong, he opens the page, and his brain becomes smooth. His head immediately catches fire as well.

Bob is able to download Super Mario Bros. (or Super Blario Hoes to avoid the Nintendo ninjas). SMG4 openly admits to pirating 2 thousand games, and when his computer is shot down, he claims to have 70 more. He himself is then shot and later imprisoned for life.

The lessons start off easy but get more confusing and convoluted as Kirby goes more in-depth about things like the ancients, Void Termina, Nova, ect. Sora walks in late, and his head promptly explodes. Meggy has been reduced to a skeleton while Mario's head deflates after both their brains having a nuclear meltdown.
SMG4 VS Bob: Who can anger Twitter more?[]

Bob takes this opportunity to diss SMG4, to the crowd's delight. When SMG4 resolves to try to make the audience happy, he falls flat with one of his “well known” SMG4 Shorts. SMG4 is then chased all the way to Inkopolis, and having lost the angry mob, dances like the short. The mob shortly found him and drops a nuke on him.

Mario starts eating right away. Shroomy is understandably unnerved, but when he takes a bite, he finds that they taste good, and proceeds to eat like Mario, to the horror of a nearby Toad. The results were void.

Luigi isn't sure about drinking the bleach, while Swag chugs it down, somehow surviving. Seeing that Luigi hasn't drank his bleach, he drinks that, too, and dies.

SMG4 attempts to persuade Gabe Newell by using a sad Heavy baby to make his point. Mario's attempt to persuade with a baseball bat does not work, and Newell adds an update: a new hat, much to SMG4's frustration.

As everyone fought well, Kirby still has hard time to decide, and called a rap battle to decide who wins.

Epilogue: The Verdict[]
With this final decree in favor of SMG4, the DMCA explodes into dust as the Nintendo IP characters regain control. Everyone cheers for SMG4 as he declares that the channel is saved, and thanks everyone from the bottom of his heart for believing in him. Lawyer Kong falls to his knees, devastated, and gets angry. He decides to quit his job, stating that he doesn't see any point in working for Nintendo if the company doesn't even believe in him, and transforms back into Funky Kong before he leaves to dance to his music and sell weapons.
Luigi, Boopkins and Bob state that they are glad they can all go back to their normal lives now as Tari gets sad that she wasn't in the arc, with Saiko comforting her. Mario declares that they should have spaghetti to celebrate, but they are all stopped by a "HOLD IT!" from Kirby. Kirby summons Shigeru Miyamoto himself to the court, which shocks everyone. Meggy is in disbelief, but Miyamoto explains that if this was an actual court trial, they would have been found guilty as their arguments were very idiotic and invalid. The whole point of the trial was to see if SMG4 could be a threat to Nintendo, and thankfully he decides that the channel is cool and fun. SMG4 cheers, glad that Miyamoto likes him, but he has one condition: because SMG4 looks too similar to Mario, and to everyone's shock, he must change his IP design, or he will be forced to file a second DMCA.
SMG4 considers this and accepts, deciding that the privilege of staying in the Mushroom Kingdom with his friends is worth it. With the deal sealed, Miyamoto signs a permanent IP change contract and throws it at SMG4, transforming him into his new IP redesign. Everyone stares at SMG3, confused as to why he wasn't changed, and he shrugs this off but comically turns into his redesign as well, being similar but with a different color code and a beard. SMG3 notices this and panics. Meggy welcomes SMG4 to the permanent new body club. Mario asks if he feels alright, and SMG4 replies that he feels amazing as now he can create content freely without fear of getting sued. Everyone cheers and claps once again as Bob and Boopkins appreciate the new design, but Miyamoto suddenly scowls that decides that Bob and Boopkins must change designs too, as he is sick of the comments in YouTube videos being filled with their names every time a Spike or Garo appears in a video. He signs two more IP contracts and throws them out at them, and the two scream as they are transformed.
Later, during the camping in the RV in Francisco Fajardo, Bob and Boopkins admire their new bodies and admit that they already feel at home in them. Luigi, back to his Heisenberg persona, yells at the two to stop standing around as he needs help cooking enough memes to return the rest of the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom to normal. Meanwhile, Mario, SMG4 and Meggy are watching the sunset, glad that everything turned out fine and that now they never need to worry about Nintendo HQ suing them again. Mario then tearfully admits that he is so glad they aren't dead anymore, as he felt so scared and depressed without them. Meggy is happy, admitting that might be the sweetest thing he's ever said, but they are interrupted by Funky Kong, who is now good and asks them if they want to buy some weapons. As Meggy argues with the others over whether they should buy any, ending the episode and the arc.

Continuity[]

The episode received an average approval of 8.8 out of 10 on IMDb.[1]
While some fans did accept SMG3, SMG4, and Bob's redesigns sometime after the airing of the episode, Fishy Boopkins' redesign in particular was heavily criticized due to it's similarity to JubJub Boopkins' design and Bob's redesign was the least criticized among the fanbase. However, this wasn't the first arc finale episode to be unpopular among fans due to controversy regarding the character redesign, as something like this happened before in the finale of the Anime Arc, SMG4: Final Hours, as that episode was criticized for Meggy Spletzer's anime-esque redesign (Which itself has been a controversial but common standard in SMG4'S Original Characters since the debut of Saiko Bichitaru in SMG4: Doki Doki Mario Club) in that episode, despite being praised by fans.
Many people believe that the decision to redesign SMG4, SMG3, Bob Bobowski, and Fishy Boopkins in this episode is to avoid getting copyrighted by Nintendo in real life, while some people believe the decision for the redesigns is for money. However, the former was officially confirmed at the end of the video that Luke made it very clear that the reason for the redesigns is to avoid having an actual DMCA with Nintendo in case they get involved with him.
However in ........Announcement?????? due to the criticism SMG4, SMG3 and Fishy Boopkins got the new redesigns.
Errors[]
- During the challenge card sequence for "Who can beat Senator Armstrong in a fight", Saiko is seen holding her fanmade hammer design instead of her official hammer design.
- During the rap battle, some of the characters that were in jail were technically given permission by Nintendo, a clear example is the popular game series, Super Smash Bros..

- However, in SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2020, it was between SMG4's Gang and the Anti-Cast. But in this WOTFI, it's between Nintendo and non-Nintendo IPs, with Mario and SMG4 as leaders of their own teams respectively.

- The Challenge Suggestions Box was opened on the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks (September 11).
- There was no regular episode or an episode of The Lawsuit Arc on October 8, 2022 before this episode but instead a Mario Does Things episode, Mario Reacts To Nintendo Memes 11 ft. Meggy was in its place.

- Melony's singing voice is provided by her regular voice actress, rather than hackerling like in War Of The Fat Italians 2021.
- Due to SMG4 and 3 getting redesigned, it is possible that the other Mario Recolors were changed off-screen, as well. This would make Mario the only remaining Mario recolor in the SMG4 series.
- This is the first WOTFI to include Bowser in a prominent role since SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2018, since SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2021 and SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2020 only featured him in non-physical cameos and SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2019 didn't even include him at all.
- After the episode's release, the channel banner was reverted back to normal, but this time with the new redesigns for SMG4, SMG3, Bob and Boopkins; in addition, the banner uses notably different lighting, and most notably, Meggy (who also now has a different pose) and SMG3 have switched spots on the banner due to SMG3's extreme downgrade in appearances following the SMG4 Cosmology Lore.

- SMG4 posts the SMG4 short "send this to a friend who needs motivation" to Twitter, and also reenacts it after escaping the angry mob.
- Miyamoto stating that Meggy's arguments wouldn't have worked in an actual courtroom actually has a bit of depth to it, as while a parody contract can be used as a defense in a normal trial, it is ONLY used as a humorous form of social commentary and literary criticism in which the work imitates another. As SMG4's jokes are all mostly based on memes or sound effects, not actual commentary or criticism, it wouldn't have worked in a real trial.
- This is the first mainline SMG4 episode in which Colin Rodgers was credited for, however he only wrote a couple of the fan submission skits that were apart of the episode, and not any of the actual mainline story.
- Colin Rodgers originally had Whimpu reveal Bowser's Mom to be a portrait of Bowser's Mom shown on Super Mario 64 Bloopers: Crystal Funhouse. However Luke figured that very little modern fans would get that reference, so it was scrapped and instead replaced with a quick photoshop of a generic mid-30's mom-looking Bowser that Colin edited himself.
- Originally there was gonna be a skit involving "Tari vs. Boopkins", where they had to escape Pac-Man, but was scrapped due to timing issues.
- A lot of obscure N64 music started popping into the series once he joined in to write for the series such as the Doctor Mario 64 OST playing in.
- This was uploaded on the same day that the first part of the third & final season of The Owl House premiered on Disney Channel & Disney XD.
