Keep following me and next time will be worse. |
” | —Whisk, SUNSET PARADISE - EP 3: Reservoir Cats |
Whisk is the secondary antagonist of Sunset Paradise. She is a feline thief who used to work under Sir Benedict Cumbersnatch.
Appearance[]
Whisk is presented as a kemonomimi character with white hair with cat ears and a white tail, dark brown skin, and bright yellow eyes. Prior to the release of the full show, her skin appeared to be lighter. Whisk's outfit consists a black short trenchcoat with a belt (consisting of 4 pockets on each side and a small emblem similar to the mask she wears), a headband around her head and gold stockings and black boots. Upon closer inspection, she also wears shorts underneath her trenchcoat.
She normally wears a Ritual or Oni cat mask to hide her identity amongst the people of Port Aurora, as well as due to her shy nature.
Personality[]
Whisk seems to have two personalities, one where she's shy and asocial when her face is revealed, and one where she turns out to be menacing and dangerous with her mask on. However her intimidating personality is actually a façade, revealing her insecure and cowardly personality whenever she loses her mask.
She is stealthy and ambushes in the night, like a cat, and extends her claws at people bothering her.
In Cat-sino Royale, she pointed out that she never wanted to be a criminal but later on declared that she would work for herself for her criminal ways, showing her conflict in herself.
It can be noted that being a cat, she has some of the same personality traits as one, such as being startled by a dog's barking and being very sensitive to sudden loud noises (like a doorbell).
History[]
Prelude[]
She described herself in the past as being foolish, and desperately became a criminal to pay off her debts.
At night, she causes disaster by stealing jewelry and other items that might be important to Port Aurora and the people. In the day, she acts as an innocent and timid citizen, as shown in the GLITCH trailer.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 2: The Silence of the Yams[]
Though Whisk is briefly seen in SUNSET PARADISE - EP 1: PILOT while Auri Bori is talking about criminals in Port Aurora, her first proper appearance in the series is in this episode. As Meggy Spletzer and Auri Bori capture and arrest the Spud Buds, Whisk arrives and steals the Spud Buds' loot, including Meggy's luggage, right before Meggy can get to it. Meggy and Auri decide to go after her tomorrow due to it being late.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 3: Reservoir Cats[]
At night, in the Port Aurora Museum of Replica Artwork, Whisk executes a heist to steal a painting depicting Aloysius Bori. However, she triggers an alarm system. While hurrying to escape, she accidentally drops her mask and is forced to leave it behind, at which point her name is revealed to the viewer.
The following morning, Meggy and Auri find the mask and talk to the museum's curator about it, who says that he will study it further if they give it to him. However, when another identical curator arrives and claims to be the only curator in the museum, Meggy and Auri deduce that the curator they spoke to was actually Whisk in disguise and chase after her. She tells Meggy and Auri to stop following her and manages to escape but drops a card promoting a hotel, giving Meggy and Auri a clue to find her.
In her hotel room, she removes her mask and indulges in ice cream while her mother contacts her on her education. Whisk assures her that she will return to community college when she managed to make enough money. A staff member named Chet then arrives at her room to clean it and makes conversation with her, which scares her since she doesn't have her mask on. After he finds the painting she stole from the museum, she puts her mask on and forcefully removes him from her room but he mistakenly takes her belt with his cleaning supplies.
When Meggy and Auri reach the hotel, they ask Chet where Whisk is but he denies that she is in the hotel. Meggy deduces that he is lying when she notices Whisk's belt and makes him reveal that Whisk is in room 214 by threatening to write a complaint to his regional manager. After the two of them leave, Chet phones Whisk to warn her about them, giving her time to prepare.
Whisk, acting on the warning, waits on her ceiling and then gasses them with her gas gun when they arrive, forcing them to encounter their respective personifications of their negative emotions while Whisk readies her laser gun. However, the two of them are able to fight off their negative emotions in time to dodge the attack. Whisk manages to escape (though she leaves behind her mask) and is then contacted by her boss Benedict Cumbersnatch, who warns her that if she screws up again (since she encountered the duo much sooner than expected), she would suffer badly. Meanwhile, Meggy is pleased to finally have her luggage back just to realize that her items were stolen by Whisk, enraging her and leading to her deciding to continue pursuing Whisk.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 4: Cat-sino Royale[]
While Meggy is trying to train Auri to be able to defeat Whisk, she gets a telephone call from Whisk herself, who tells her to meet her at the theatre. Despite Meggy's anger, she agrees and takes the mask with her. Whisk takes back her mask and introduces herself properly, hoping Meggy will give her another chance. She tells her that she wants to stop being a criminal but will need Meggy's help in a final heist. Meggy is hesitant but agrees after Whisk explains that they will be stealing from the cunning magicians Froy and Doy Maloy, who only became as successful as they did by conning and scamming others. Meggy steals Froy's security key while Whisk steals Doy's (though she notices that she no longer has her gas gun). The two then attempt to go to the vault beneath the casino where the money is located but are stopped by a pair of guards; while they are confronting them, a blue Aura Bora bumps into Whisk, knocking off her mask and cleans it for her, causing her to have a breakdown. Meggy covers for her by convincing the guards that they work for Froy and Doy due to having their keys and by taking back the mask.
Meggy and Whisk have a brief intermission in the elevator where they talk about their insecurities. Whisk lays it on Meggy that she became a criminal to repay her debts but is stuck in an endless loop of heists. Before Whisk could respond to Meggy’s suggestion to change after her last heist, they make quick of the laser security system and use the keys to open the vault, where Whisk begins taking the money. However, a stray diamond rolls into a laser and triggers the alarm system, forcing Meggy and Whisk to escape back to the casino's main lobby, where Froy, Doy, their pet tiger Tig Tig, and the guards, all of whom have caught onto their scheme, are waiting for them. Meggy and Whisk manage to get past them and escape with the help of Whisk's getaway pilot. Whisk then gives Meggy back the camera she stole and reveals that this wasn't actually her final heist, frustrating Meggy. The getaway pilot then reveals himself as Auri, who electrocutes Whisk and explains how he was responsible for taking Whisk's gas gun, how he was the Aura Bora who cleaned her mask (when in reality he attached a device to it so he could electrocute her later), and how he stole the hot air balloon from the actual getaway pilot. Whisk promises that she will never steal again as she begs to be set free, but Auri denies her this privilege due to the crimes she has already committed, while Meggy thinks that some time out in prison will be good for her. Auri then locks her up in his house in the same prison that the Spud Buds are in and she discusses with Duke about how their boss is going to be mad.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 6: Saturday Night Funkin'[]
She appears hanging off the ceiling (with her mask back on) after being freed by her boss Benedict. After her colleagues locked the duo up in their former prison, Meggy tried to appeal to her non-criminal ways. It sounded like it failed due to Whisk declaring that if she (or rather, Auri) was the one to lock her up due to being just a criminal, then she might as well stay as one but her actions indicated that either she still was conflicted on this or she actually genuinely agreed with Meggy but could not show it directly in front of her boss, as she either unknowingly or willingly threw the keys in their close proximity. She then left with the others to leave the duo to die in the incoming explosion for the lighthouse (whether or not she’d know that they’d survive is undetermined).
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 7: What Comes Next.[]
Now in Mayora Bora's office along with her colleagues and her boss, she steals the sheriff's star from him and gave it to her boss. Then, at the lighthouse holding the Phoenix egg, after seeing the Spud Buds fail to get through the barrier, she tries to shoot at it, just for the laser to be deflected towards one of the Goonies. Disappointed, she walked off before the Funky Fource tried to get through to no avail too.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 8: Mad Meggy[]
She is first seen chatting with one of the Goonies and putting makeup on it. Above a building, Meggy Spletzer and Auri Bori are shown trying to sneak up on her and steal her laser gun, but this fails, due to a couple of inconvenient birds. As a result of this, Auri ends up dropping the rope that Meggy was tied up in, and she fell, startling Whisk with the sudden loud noise. Whisk looks around to find out where the noise came from, and sees Meggy, finding out that she had survived Benedict's explosion trap. She then quickly asks the Goonie to help her attack but Auri drops his hat on her face, resulting in her mask falling off and once again returning to her cowardly antisocial personality. After running into the shown Goonie, she woke up, immediately seeing a bird pick up her mask and fly away with it. Horrified, she attempts to chase the birds in an attempt to retrieve her mask, giving Meggy the chance to steal her laser gun and take off.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 9: All Fall Down[]
She surprisingly manages to get her mask back from the the birds and intercepts Meggy from attacking Benedict. There she faces Meggy off with a gun fight.
SUNSET PARADISE - EP 10: Rebirth[]
She ends up fighting Meggy with Benedict, but fails and loses her mask temporarily. After Benedict Threatens to kill her mother if she fails to defeat Meggy, who gives her the chance to escape promising not to let Benedict reach her mother. Taking the opportunity to escape, she later finds her mask again in the ruins of the lighthouse after the fight before taking off. so far, this is the last Whisk was seen or mentioned. It remains unknown whether Whisk was going to be the protagonist of Sunset Paradise, being a prominent character in an entirely different project altogether or as a fake-out to trick fans from thinking Meggy was going to be the protagonist of Sunset Paradise. Chances are that it's a fake-out since her trailers depicted Whisk and Auri as a duo.
- Before her proper reveal, Luke Lerdwichagul hinted that her name starts with a W on a Reddit QnA.[1]
- Her name is a pun on "whisk" and "whiskers".
